PE

P.E. is on a Monday with Mr Gibson (Athletics) and a Friday afternoon with John Pickering (Rugby).

Reading

 Reading is extremely important to learning in school and is a fantastic life skill. The majority of Year 6 are free readers, which means they have a choice of a wide variety of books from our Year group library. Children read in school and at home and change them when finished. This year, we have a new Reading Reward Scheme: every time a child has read three times over the week, they will get a sticker for their book mark. If they reach 10 stickers over a term, then they will receive a reward! 

Homework

Year 6 get homework on Mondays and it is due in on Fridays. A variety of homework will be given throughout the year: GPaS, reading comprehension, maths. These are all key skills that children need extra practise in. Please ensure your child completes all homework tasks. Spellings are given out on Monday to learn over the week and a test is undertaken on Friday. Pupils will also be set tasks on Spelling Shed, Maths Shed and TTRockstars. Codes for these have been handed out to children.

SATS

End of Key Stage Assessments (the SATs) take place in May 2022. Government guidelines state at the moment that these SATs will take place in May (see below for dates). We gradually build up the skills needed for these tests to ensure children achieve what they are all capable of. They are a moment in time and do not show the worth of your whole child, so please do not worry.

SATs Boosters

SATs booster sessions will begin week commencing 28th February 2022 on a Monday and Tuesday after school, 3:20-4pm.

SATS Week

SATS week will commence from Monday 9th May until Thursday 12th May 2022.

Class Dojo

This year we will be using Class Dojo school-wide as a means of maintaining parent communication and as our whole-school rewards system. I will be posting regular updates to our Class Story throughout the year as well as reminders for parents and pupils.
