On Thursday 15th March all of Year 4 children attended a multi sports morning, along with other schools, at the Community Centre in Boldon.
Year 4 (class 9) have been learning about laws and the criminal justice system. We recently had a visit from some local magistrates. As well as a PowerPoint presentation, the children got to act out a scene from court. All of the children followed a script, however, they took into consideration the jury’s findings and eventually convicted the criminal.
Class 9 spent four weeks creating and mastering a dance routine with the dance coach. The children have displayed fabulous team work skills as they danced to Uptown Funk.
Class 9 visited Segedunum Roman Fort as part of their work this term. The children have been learning about life and times of Roman soldiers. We did a series of workshops throughout the day, the children loved it!
Class 9 have been finding fractions of whole numbers. Every child in the class grasped it and some even mastered it! Well done Class 9 we are super proud.
As part of their Science work Year 4 have been look at how they should look after our teeth. They did an experiment where they put eggs into various liquids including vinegar, milk, water and coke. They used eggs as the shell closely resembles the enamel on our teeth. They left the eggs in the liquids for a week and then looked at what had happened. The egg left in the vinegar had no shell left at all and the vinegar had begun to eat away at the egg. It showed the children that acid substances are not good for their teeth.
