Our Golden Table has been up and running for 4 weeks. Children are picked by the lunchtime staff, when children demonstrate use of manners, are polite, kind to others and behave well over dinnertime. This picture shows the children chosen on World Book Day having their lunch.
In assembly, Mrs Weightman read aloud 3 short stories about children who had been given a present, offered help or asked to join in a game. We had to spot what was missing from the stories and we all knew that the children should have said, “thank you”. We talked about why it was important to use good manners in school; it helps bring us together as a community and shows we have respect for one another. Mrs Weightman then shared some exciting news! Every Friday, children who have impressed any adult in school with their good manners (especially at lunchtime!), will be invited to take a seat on the Golden Table. This will be a special table in the hall where a table cloth will be laid, special plates will be used and members of the school council will take food orders and serve the food to the table! What a special treat it will be!
